Cold Move has initiated an ambitious sustainability project that sets a new benchmark in its journey toward achieving a net-zero carbon footprint. Building upon our solar photovoltaic (PV) installation commissioned in 2012, the company is excited to announce the addition of solar PV panels to three more roof spaces of its cold stores this year.
Back in 2012, Cold Move became one of the first cold storage facilities in the UK to embrace solar PV technology. Recognising the potential of renewable energy sources, it took the proactive step of installing solar panels. Today, it continues to take the lead by expanding its existing installation, thereby reaffirming its commitment to sustainability.
The photograph provided showcases the initial stage of the new solar PV installation, which has been successfully deployed at its Glovers Meadow facility. This marks the first of three additional solar systems that are set to be commissioned by September, representing a remarkable expansion of its solar PV capacity.
These new installations are poised to deliver tangible environmental benefits, serving as a pivotal milestone in Cold Move’s ongoing pursuit of reducing our carbon footprint. By harnessing the inexhaustible power of the sun to generate clean electricity, the company is taking significant strides toward mitigating their environmental impact.
The expanded solar PV project not only aligns with Cold Move’s commitment to sustainability but also underscores our dedication to achieving a net-zero carbon footprint. By increasing our reliance on renewable energy, the company aims to further reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, bringing it closer to our ultimate goal of operating in harmony with the environment.
By integrating solar panels into its cold stores, Cold Move is proactively diversifying its energy sources and minimizing its dependence on conventional power grids. These installations not only generate clean energy but also contribute to the overall stability and resilience of our operations, reducing vulnerability to potential energy shortages.
Each solar panel installation and subsequent clean energy generation moves Cold Move closer to realising its ambitious sustainability goals. With every additional watt of renewable electricity produced, the Company actively contributes to creating a more sustainable and resilient future.
